I am fascinated by the symbolism of paintings from the Renaissance, Baroque Dutch still life, historical photographs, web images, iconic and domestic objects. I have taken these images and deconstructed them, then re-contextualized them as part of new narratives by using different surface treatments, compositions, and materials. This process has given my sculptures an array of emotional connotation, historical reference, and a sense of personal identity.
My work is characterized by presence and visual complexity that creates layers of textures on the surface. I have integrated ancient, traditional, and modern materials, in an unusual combination of textures, which provokes the desire to touch the piece, to know how it feels.
